Overview
The Schwab Foundation uses Letters of Intent (LOIs) as an initial step in the grant process for planning grants and innovative pilot programs.
LOIs help the Foundation determine whether a proposed program aligns with its mission and funding priorities before inviting a full proposal.
When to Submit an LOI
Organizations interested in funding for:
- New program ideas
- Program expansion
- Planning or pilot initiatives
are encouraged to submit a Letter of Intent during an open grant cycle.
What to Include
Letters of Intent should clearly outline:
- The purpose and goals of the program
- The student population to be served
- How the program supports career awareness and readiness
- Key activities and experiences (e.g., internships, mentorship, hands-on learning)
- Expected outcomes and how success will be measured
- Alignment with the Schwab Foundation’s funding priorities
Review Process
Submitted LOIs are reviewed to assess alignment, feasibility, and potential impact.
Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full grant proposal.
Additional Information
- Letters of Intent are limited to two pages maximum
- LOIs may be submitted during open grant cycles
- LOIs are not required for ongoing or previously funded programs
- All grants are awarded by invitation only
